Repair Strategy 02

Overhead PEX Rerouting Without Breaking Concrete

Rather than repair a line buried in a foundation that has already failed, we abandon it in place and run a new PEX line overhead through the attic and walls. No concrete is broken, and that run cannot leak under your slab again because it is no longer under your slab.

Service to fix my garbage disposal was impeccable. Dennis's demeanor was extremely professional and pleasant. He arrived within half an hour of the 4 hour window, took care of business in under 10 min, and left the area cleaner than when he arrived. Thank you!

What Rerouting Means

The failing sub-slab line is capped and left in place โ€” pulling it out would mean destroying the foundation for no benefit. Its replacement runs up a wall, across the attic and back down to the fixtures it serves, in PEX. The house ends up with the same water at the same fixtures, delivered through a line that is accessible, insulated and nowhere near the concrete.

2

Why PEX And Not Copper

PEX does not pit or corrode the way copper does in hard water, which is the failure mode we see constantly across Southern California. It runs in long continuous lengths, so a reroute has dramatically fewer joints than the copper it replaces, and every joint is one fewer thing to fail. It also tolerates the temperature swing of an unconditioned SoCal attic better than rigid pipe does.

3

When A Reroute Beats Another Repair

The decision usually turns on history rather than on this one leak. A second or third failure on the same run means the problem is the age and condition of the pipe, not bad luck at one point. Rerouting is also the clear answer under hardwood, stone or polished concrete, where the restoration cost of a slab opening exceeds the plumbing, and in any home where you want the recurring problem to end rather than be postponed.

What The Work Looks Like In The House

Expect access holes in drywall where the line drops to fixtures, not holes in your floor. Those get patched. The work is noisier and takes longer than a spot repair and costs more up front โ€” we quote it against the spot repair honestly so you can weigh a larger one-time cost against the chance of paying for detection and repair again in two years.

Think this is what your house needs?

Detection is $150โ€“$400, quoted before we start, and the repair is a separate quote given after the diagnosis. Tell us what you are seeing.
