Service to fix my garbage disposal was impeccable. Dennis's demeanor was extremely professional and pleasant. He arrived within half an hour of the 4 hour window, took care of business in under 10 min, and left the area cleaner than when he arrived. Thank you!

About DG Plumbing

Trusted Slab Leak Detection With A Personal Approach

Slab leaks under concrete foundations cause severe structural degradation if left unchecked. The Gonzales Family founded DG Plumbing & Rooter in 2022, and the company has worked Southern California slabs ever since under California contractor licence CSLB #1086844.

We combine acoustic frequency mapping with thermal diagnostic cameras and isolated pressure testing to locate sub-slab leaks without breaking concrete prematurely. High desert houses are hard on under-slab copper — soil that moves with the seasons, hard water, and decades of thermal cycling on hot-water runs. Those failure patterns are learned by working them.

Detection & Repair Methods

Six Ways A Slab Leak Gets Found And Fixed

No single method answers every call. Which one you need depends on whether the line still holds pressure, whether the leak is on the hot or the cold side, and how much history the copper under your house already has.
  • On a pressurised line that is still holding water, the first tool out of the van is acoustic leak detection — ground microphones that hear the leak through the slab and walk it back to a single point on the floor.

  • When the symptom is a warm patch underfoot, thermal camera imaging maps the heat plume the escaping hot water leaves in the concrete, often confirming the location in minutes.

  • If the diagnosis comes back as one isolated failure in copper that is otherwise in good condition, a direct spot repair opens a small, deliberate section of slab over that point and leaves the rest of the floor alone.

  • For an older copper network that has already leaked more than once, overhead PEX rerouting abandons the buried line altogether and runs its replacement through the attic — no concrete broken, and no future leak under that slab.

  • Locating a leak and proving one are different jobs, which is why pressure decay testing isolates the hot and cold sides separately and shows on a gauge which line is losing water — or that neither is.

  • If water is coming up through the floor right now, detection waits — 24/7 emergency isolation shuts the main down and isolates the failing line first, any hour, so the damage stops before the diagnosis starts.

Advanced Sub-Grade Engineering

Slab Leaks Demand Precision, Not Jackhammers

Shifting soil, high mineral content and thermal expansion cause pressurised copper lines beneath concrete foundations to fatigue. Guesswork leads to unnecessary structural disruption. We isolate leak coordinates before any repair begins.

1

Acoustic & Thermal Scanning

We map sub-floor temperature variance and isolate high-frequency leak sound signatures hidden below concrete using digital amplification sensors.

2

Targeted Direct Access

If a localised repair is optimal, we open minimal slab space directly above the failure point, preserving the structural integrity of the foundation.

3

Complete Overhead Reroute

For aged or heavily corroded sub-slab piping, we abandon the buried line entirely and execute a modern PEX overhead reroute.

Our Methodology

Our Proven Process For Effective Leak Control

1. Detect

Electronic sensors and thermal imaging pinpoint the exact leak location. Nothing is cut at this stage — detection is the diagnostic, priced on its own.

2. Diagnose

Assessment of pipe material, condition and damage scope. This is what decides between a spot repair and a reroute — and you get the reasoning, not just the recommendation.

3. Repair

We open only the sections necessary to make the correct repair — usually a small, deliberate opening directly over the failure.

Early Warning Indicators

If you notice any of these anywhere in Southern California, contact dispatch:

  • Water meter spinning while every fixture is off
  • Unusually warm tiles or floorboards in halls or baths
  • Sound of running water with nothing running
  • Wet spots on floors, walls or ceilings
  • Unexplained spike in the water bill
  • Musty or mold smell, damp baseboards
  • New cracks in foundation or walls
  • Low water pressure throughout the home
Resolution Strategy

Spot Repair Or Overhead Reroute

Evaluating long-term structural viability for Southern California foundations. Both are legitimate — a contractor who only ever sells one of them is selling you their preference.

Diagnostic / Repair VectorDirect Spot RepairComplete Overhead Reroute
Primary ObjectiveIsolate and repair a single pinpoint leak locationBypass sub-floor piping completely with modern PEX
Foundation ImpactLocalised, single-point penetrationZero concrete breaking required
Ideal ScenarioNewer homes with a single isolated pipe failureOlder copper networks with multiple historical leaks
Flooring ConsiderationBest over carpet or standard tilePreferred under hardwood, stone or polished concrete
Long-term Failure RiskRemaining sub-floor copper stays at its current ageEliminates future sub-slab leaks on that line permanently

Repair Method Selector

Evaluate whether a direct spot repair, an overhead reroute or a full repipe fits your property.

Recommendation:

Direct Spot Repair

Optimal option: localised concrete access for an isolated single pinhole repair. Least disruption, lowest cost.

FAQ

Have Questions? We're Here To Help

How do you locate slab leaks without tearing up my flooring?

Electronic sensors, infrared cameras, acoustic ground microphones, isolated pressure tests and fiber optic pipe cameras locate the leak through the concrete. Nothing is opened during detection — concrete is only cut at the repair stage, and only directly over the failure.

What does slab leak detection cost?

$150–$400. That price is the diagnostic — locating the leak and identifying what is wrong with the line. Repair is quoted separately after diagnosis, when there is something real to quote on. If the problem turns out not to be under the slab, you still get the answer.

Is a direct spot repair better than an overhead reroute?

For an isolated leak on newer copper, spot repair works well. For older copper systems with prior leaks — or expensive flooring you do not want opened — an overhead PEX reroute removes that run from under the slab permanently.

How fast can you get out here?

Same-day slab leak detection is available across Southern California, and emergency dispatch runs 24/7. If water is actively running, shut off the main and call — do not wait for a callback.

What parts of Southern California do you serve?

The core of the service area since 2022 is Palmdale, Lancaster and Quartz Hill, with active coverage across the wider Antelope Valley and into the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask.
